A/N: Remember Save A Horse... and how it was just meant to be a PWP, but got Issue-y on me? Remember how I said I might, possibly, end up writing a sequel with haystack!sex? Well, this is that sequel, only, uh, it got a lot less crack-y than I thought it would be, and doesn't, actually, involve a whole load of haystack!sex. Or, uh, any porn at all...I kept finding myself sfading to black...
Still, there IS crazed meteor mutants, much CLex-y love, and, of course, them dealing with Issues, because apparently I can't avoid that.
Much love to
merihn for Betaing, and as usual, if you spot anything I've missed, please, please let me know.
And I really would recommend reading Save A Horse... first.
In the half-light of dusk, Lex could just about trace the line of Clark's body, relaxed and sprawled out across Lex's bed. Clark was either asleep or mostly asleep, one arm draped casually across Lex's chest with a possessiveness that Lex would have resented from anyone else, but that from Clark just seemed right.
Lex was taking advantage of the few short, quiet minutes before Clark had to rush off home to memorise the shape of Clark's body and spin himself an annoyingly sappy fantasy where Clark didn't have to go home at all, where he could just stay with Lex and wake up beside him in the morning, tease him about his inability to think properly before he'd had coffee, nag him until he ate some breakfast and then kiss him goodbye when Lex gave him a lift to school. School, Lex reminded himself. You're sleeping with a schoolboy. If you get found out, you'll be lucky if Jonathan Kent lets you live long enough to end up in jail.
"Lex," said Clark lazily into the dim room, "Do we have boring sex?"
Lex blinked with surprise at the sudden question. "Last time I was kidnapped you didn't undo the handcuffs until three hours after you'd rescued me," he pointed out.
Clark shifted at the reminder, but Lex couldn't tell if it was from embarrassment, or because the memory was making him turned on. "Yeah, but that was different," argued Clark. "I was annoyed you'd got in trouble again."
Annoyed was a bit of an understatement - Clark had fucked Lex so hard that he'd seen stars, while growling in his ear that he wasn't allowed to make Clark worry like that, then spent the next two hours teasing Lex until he was ready to promise anything and everything - including that he'd be more careful about who was driving his limo when he got in it - just so that Clark would let him come. It was a memory that Lex would always treasure.
He pushed back the memory with a mental note to see if he could bring out that side of Clark without having to be pistol-whipped first, and concentrated on the matter at hand. "The first time we had sex, we were on horseback. In the middle of open fields, where anyone could have seen us."
"There was no one for miles," said Clark, and Lex had to bite his lip to stop himself asking how Clark knew. That probably counted as one of the secrets he wasn't meant to ask about, even though the desperate need to know made his skin feel too small. "And that was a one-off," continued Clark. "My point is, usually we just have sex here. In your bed."
"Or in my shower. Or on the couch in my study. Or on the desk. Or over the pool table. Or up against the wall in the alcove halfway down the hall because you're too impatient to wait till we get all the way here," listed Lex.
Clark sighed. "Lex," he said impatiently, and Lex stopped naming the main places before he got as far as the back of the limo.
"I don't understand your point," he admitted. "Most people just have sex around the house."
"Yeah," agreed Clark, "but you're not most people. You're Lex Luthor." He said Lex's name as if it meant something depraved. "You spent your adolescence having all kinds of crazy and semi-illegal sexploits in most of the major world capitals." Lex winced slightly, and added 'sexploits' to the list of words he'd never expected to hear Clark say, and that he never wanted to hear him say again.
Lex rolled over and gently pressed his lips against Clark's. "You don't have to worry about that," he said seriously. "None of that comes close to this. None of those people mattered to me at all."
"Yeah, I know," agreed Clark in a soft voice, and Lex stopped worrying that Clark thought he had to compete against the endless stream of faceless people he'd fucked his way through in a petty attempt at teenage rebellion. "I just...I don't want you getting bored."
"I'm not going to get bored," said Lex firmly, kissing Clark again, hoping to end this line of conversation and get in a quickie before Clark noticed the time and realised he had to leave.
"Lex," sighed Clark, shifting to pull Lex's body closer against his own, "Please. Let's do something different."
"Are you getting bored?" asked Lex, bending his head to lick at Clark's neck, and then bite at the line of his collarbone. He'd found out weeks ago that he could bite as hard as he liked along there and all Clark would do was moan and arch his body upwards, wanting more. It'd driven the part of him that wanted answers for everything mad with curiosity, but it was easy to push that down when Clark was spread out beneath him, making noises that went straight to Lex's cock.
"No," gasped Clark, "God, no, but this is all still new to me." He hooked his leg around Lex's knees, aligning their bodies so that when he thrust upwards their cocks rubbed together in exactly the right way. "You've done this all a million times before."
Lex kissed Clark, tongues sliding together, as he thought about that. Maybe Clark wasn't so much worried about keeping Lex from getting jaded with their sexlife, but just wanted something new they could do together. "Well," he said breathlessly, drawing back slightly to look at Clark's flushed face, "You did mention haystack sex. I've never done that."
Clark's face lit up and Lex just had to kiss him again, kiss the innocence out of his smile until he looked as debauched as a farmboy in bed with a Luthor should. "We'll do that then," he said when Lex let his mouth go long enough for him to speak.
"Yeah," agreed Lex, reaching for the lube on the bedside table. "Later. Right now, I'm going to fuck you here." Clark groaned, and his hips pushed upwards again.

Which is why, three nights later, Lex was wandering through a field somewhere on the outskirts of Smallville, wondering how he was going to explain the state of his shoes to his valet. Clark was bounding along happily next to him, scoping out the nearby haystacks as if he knew what made one more suitable over another one for underage, homosexual sex.
"Why don't we just go to that one?" asked Lex, pointing at the closest.
Clark barely spared it a glance. "It's, uh, already occupied."
"Really?" said Lex, looking back at the haystack with more interest. He couldn't see any sign of anyone in it. Or on it. Or...where, exactly, did one have haystack sex anyway?
"Yeah," said Clark. He cleared his throat nervously, like he often did when he was about to say something that gave Lex another clue to his secrets. "I think it's my English teacher and the school janitor."
Lex raised one eyebrow and mentally chalked a big tick next to some kind of eyesight enhancement on his list of Clark's Secrets, and reconfirmed to himself his deep-held belief that all of Smallville was engaged in nefarious sex acts whenever they had a spare moment.
"Besides, that one's kinda small," said Clark. He pointed to a haystack in the furthest corner of the field. "That one's much better."
Lex looked at the distance of muddy field that they still had to cover, and sighed. Maybe he should have thought ahead and already ordered a replacement pair of shoes. How quickly would his shoemaker in Metropolis be able to make up another pair to the same specifications as these? Would it be a waste of resources to send the helicopter to pick them up for him, or should he just send a car? Maybe he could persuade Clark to go - it was his fault these ones were ruined, after all, and if the speed Clark had come back to pick him up after the horse incident was anything to go by, he could probably get to Metropolis and back in about five minutes.
"Oh, crap," said Clark in tones of quiet doom, interrupting Lex's train of thought.
They were passing by a medium-sized haystack and before Lex could query Clark's dread, the reason for it became clear as Chloe stepped out from the shadow of it.
"Clark!" she exclaimed and then with slightly less enthusiasm, "Lex. What are you doing here?"
Lex's mind, usually particularly adept at coming up with a cover story for any occasion, rebelled when confronted with trying to provide an excuse for him creeping around a hay field in the middle of the night with an underage boy. You're going to prison, it told him, frankly and unhelpfully.
"I'm winning a bet," said Clark cheerfully. Lex immediately thought of the last bet Clark had told him about, the one about having sex on a horse which he'd claimed Chloe had started, and wondered if his enormous, tattooed roommate would be called Butch or Tyrone. "I'm proving to Lex that there's more to Smallville's nightlife than coffee and barn dances."
Lex tried to look as if he knew what Clark was talking about. "So far we've managed to expand that to mud and the ruin of expensive shoes," he said, dryly.
Clark glanced at his feet with a frown. "Why aren't you wearing boots?"
Lex rolled his eyes. "Clark, what on earth makes you think I own boots?"
"Huh," said Clark, his forehead scrunching up in a manner that Lex had to tell himself repeatedly was not cute, as if he'd never even considered that there might be anyone who didn't own boots.
"What are you trying to show him?" asked Chloe, looking around the field. "I don't think there's a secret den of debauchery on the Williams' farm."
"There's the haystacks," pointed out Clark.
Chloe laughed. "Clark, that's a rural myth - no one actually has sex in a haystack."
"Want a bet?" asked Clark with an eyebrow twitch that Lex half-recognised, and then realised that Clark must have copied off him.
"Sure," said Chloe easily. "Ten bucks."
Clark gave a shit-eating grin. "If we do find someone having sex in one then, I get ten bucks from you, and," he shot Lex a sly glance, "the chance to drive Lex's Lamborghini to school." Lex choked on his automatic denial of any such thing ever happening, and glared at Clark, who just looked unspeakably smug. Well, it wasn't a real bet, and if Chloe never found out that one of her teachers was involved in a sexual liaison in a haystack only fifty yards away, he'd never have to pay up.
"What are you doing out here, Miss Sullivan?" he asked smoothly, trying to distract her attention from any mysterious moans that might float to them across the field.
"I'm investigating something for an article," replied Chloe. "Mr Williams has reported some strange events, and I think there might be another mutant around."
Clark perked up and Lex restrained himself from groaning. Just what he needed, another night spent being chased around by someone who wanted to kill him in a bizarre and improbable manner. He mentally resigned his entire outfit to the trash can.
"What strange events?" asked Clark, glancing around at the dark field as if some crazed, evil, super-powered freak was about to come at them out of the dark.
"Well," said Chloe excitedly, "There's something spooking his cows, he's heard weird noises at night, and..."
"Weird noises like that?" interrupted Clark, frowning around. Lex looked around as well, but it took a few moments before he could hear anything (he added 'possible hearing augmentation?' to his mental list) and when he did, it just sounded like thunder, far away somewhere. Except the sky was clear of clouds and had been all day.
"Possibly," said Chloe. "What is that?"
"It's getting closer," pointed out Lex tensely, gauging the distance back to his car and wondering why he thought wandering round somewhere as dangerous as Smallville late at night was a good idea. The sex, pointed out the snarky voice in his head. You were blinded by the prospect of sex with Clark. Which, really, was always his downfall these days.
"It's..." started Clark, then his eyes widened. "Holy crap," he gasped, grabbed Lex round the waist and pulled him back into the shadow of the haystack, dragging Chloe with them by her arm.
The noise got louder and louder, until it seemed to fill the whole field, and then there was dust everywhere, making Lex's eyes water and choking his throat. He could hear Chloe coughing as well, then there was a tearing noise, barely audible over the thunder pulsing around them, and Lex felt warm, Clark-scented material being pressed over his mouth and nose. He grabbed it gratefully, his eyes screwed tightly shut to protect them from the flying dirt. What the hell was going on? Some kind of freak dust storm? Maybe this mutant could control the wind, and Lex suddenly had an image of Storm from the X-men, hovering above a haystack and glaring maliciously at them.
The thunder grew to an almost unbearable volume, and there was a sense of massive movement near-by, just outside of the shelter of the haystack. Lex pressed back as far as he could, hay digging into his skin through his shirt. He could feel Clark's arm still clutching protectively at him, holding him close, and he hoped like hell that Chloe had her eyes shut against the dust and flying hay as well, or that she'd just think it was a typical Clark-the-hero gesture.
The noise and dust only lasted a few minutes, although it seemed much longer to Lex. It faded away surprisingly quickly, leaving a strange, sudden silence. Lex opened his eyes cautiously, still half-expecting a faceful of hay, and then shifted against Clark's arm pointedly. Clark cleared his throat and removed it.
"What the hell was that?" asked Chloe, coughing slightly. Her whole body was coated with dirt and hay, her clothes dishevelled and her hair in a state of complete disarray. Lex glanced down at himself to see he was in exactly the same state. His valet really was going to kill him. Still, he thought, running his hand quickly over his head to knock away any lose pieces of hay, at least he didn't have to worry about getting the stuff out of his hair.
"Cows," said Clark grimly. He seemed to have lost his shirt, and Lex had to take a moment to pull his mind back from Get the rest of his clothes off in order to realise that the cloth he was still clutching in one hand was half of what had been Clark's shirt. Chloe had the other half. Lex mentally rolled his eyes - did Clark really think that no one would notice he hadn't needed any assistance breathing through the dust?
"What?" asked Chloe, sounding extremely puzzled, but Clark was distracted already.
"What happened to that haystack?"
Lex turned to look. The haystack that Clark had rejected earlier as being too small had completely disappeared. Lex blinked. He looked around the rest of the field, but the other stacks were all still in place, albeit a bit battered. And, although the noise and the dust had been violent, the actual amount of wind hadn't been enough to blow away an entire stack without a trace.
"Disappearing haystacks," said Chloe, sounding dazed. "That's the other thing Mr Williams said was going on."
There was a movement where the haystack had been, and two half-clothed figures stood up, wobbling slightly. They glanced around at the field, froze in horror when they saw Lex, Clark and Chloe watching them, and then ran off, heading towards the thin strip of woods that hid the road and where, presumably, they had a car.
"Oh, god," said Chloe, sounding more shocked than she had been by the vanishing haystack. "Was that Mrs Griffiths? And the janitor?"
"Yes," said Clark, sounding insufferably smug, "You owe me ten bucks. And Lex," he added, glee filling his voice, "is going to let me drive the Lamborghini."
Lex groaned. Just his luck that the mysterious, haystack-destroying mutant would pick that particular haystack. Of all the haystacks, in all the world... His mind pointed out something Clark had said a minute ago before he could finish the thought. "Cows?" he repeated.
"Yeah," said Clark. "It was cows." Chloe turned to glare at Clark. "Hey, I've lived on a dairy farm pretty much my whole life," said Clark defensively. "You think I don't know what a stampede sounds like?"
Oh God. Mutant cows. Lex looked down at his ruined clothes and wondered why, exactly, he was still in Smallville, and hadn't high-tailed it as far away as possible the first time something like this had happened. He looked up to see Clark frowning at him, looking slightly worried. Ah, yes, that was why. Lex smiled at him slowly to let him know he was okay.
"Where's the nearest cow field?" asked Chloe. Clark glanced over at her, and Lex felt the loss of his gaze like a physical thing.
"Over by the creek. Mr Williams just moved his herd over from the south pasture," he said, and Chloe's eyes lit up. Lex sighed - this looked like it was going to turn into one of their evenings spent running around righting wrongs, doing good and foiling meteorite mutants. He looked down at his clothes again.
"Well, sounds like Nancy Drew is well on the way to solving the case," he said. "I'll leave you two to it."
Clark looked wounded, as if Lex not wanting to run through fields in chase of mutant cows with him was a personal insult. Lex had to fight the urge to kiss it all better and promise he'd go with them. "Call me later," he said instead.
Clark's face lit up. "Yeah, we've got to arrange for me to redeem my winnings." Lex glared at him, said a courteous goodbye to Chloe, and then hurried back to his car before any more farm animals could attack him.
****
It was nearly three am when Clark slipped into Lex's bedroom. Lex wasn't sleeping - he hadn't even bothered to try, instead he was sat up with his laptop, pretending to read a report on the latest revolution in fertiliser production, but really just waiting up for Clark to let him know that all was well in the world of mutant farm animals. He'd been expecting a phone call, though, and suddenly looking up to find Clark closing the door quietly behind himself sent a warm thrill down Lex's spine.
"It was cows," he said, as if Lex had been worried about it. "Mr Williams moved them to a new field, and the grass there was affected by meteors. It made the cows really hungry." He walked towards the bed.
Lex blinked at him. "So they were randomly attacking and eating the nearest innocent haystack?"
"Yup," said Clark, crawling onto the bed and straddling Lex's body. "But it's over now - I've saved the rest of Mr Williams' haystacks."
"My hero," said Lex dryly, putting his laptop on the bedside table. "Did you have to rescue any other couples indulging in haystack sex?"
"Nope," said Clark bending down to kiss Lex. "But I did see Mrs Griffiths' car on the way over here, parked off the road. The windows were all steamed up."
Lex put his hands on Clark's hips. "They must have decided that backseat sex was much safer. Can't say I blame them."
"Yeah," agreed Clark, slipping his hands underneath the t-shirt Lex slept in. "Maybe that's what we should try next time. Maybe in the Lamborghini?"
Lex snorted. "There's no way the Lamborghini is big enough for that," he said.
Clark looked disappointed, so Lex wrapped his legs around Clark's knees and rolled them over, bending down to kiss a smile back onto his lips. "This bed's definitely big enough, though," he pointed out.
Clark grinned. "Yeah, that's the good thing about beds," he agreed, his hands sliding back down Lex's body, touching skin all the way down till he was cupping Lex's ass.
Lex ground his hips down against Clark's. "Let's take advantage of it," he suggested.
****
It was quiet afterwards, and dark without the light of Lex's laptop screen. Lex carded his fingers through Clark's hair and waited for him to say he had to get home. He started to plan when they'd be able to see each other next - tomorrow was a Saturday, so Clark could come by after his chores. Except that probably wouldn't be until nearly the evening, so maybe Lex could swing by the farm on the pretext of ordering some more vegetables, although the chef had threatened him with a meat cleaver if any organic produce appeared in the house before they'd had a chance to eat some of the backlog that was slowly taking over the kitchen.
Lex would just have to dump the produce somewhere on his way home. There must be some kind of charity in Smallville he could donate it to - orphans, or the homeless or something. Plus, if he did that, his stock within the community would go up. Hmmm, might need more than one crate of produce then. Maybe he could set up a standing arrangement with the Kents, under the Lexcorp name - that would be good for his taxes as well. He'd just have to find a suitable charity...
"I can almost feel it whirring," said Clark sleepily.
Lex blinked, his train of thought derailed. "What?"
"Your brain," clarified Clark. "You just never stop thinking, do you? It's really sexy."
Lex smiled at that. Maybe he'd just not let Clark go home ever, and then neither of them would have to leave the bed. The orphans would just have to get their own damned produce.
Except, sooner or later Jonathon Kent would turn up with a shotgun, and Lex's father would turn up with a lawyer or a professional hitman, depending on how he decided to spin it, and with all the visitors there just wouldn't be any time for sex. Lex sighed. "You should go," he said, reluctantly.
"No," said Clark, still sounding half asleep. "Told my parents there were mutant cows, and I'd probably be out all night. They agreed it was important - Dad said that I shouldn't let anything get in the way of helping cows. He was pretty insistent."
Lex blinked. "You're staying the night?" he asked, trying to understand.
Clark propped his head up, worry suddenly creeping into his eyes. "Yeah, if that's okay."
Lex grinned. "That's more than okay." He leaned up to meet Clark's mouth with his own.
There followed a few minutes of lazy making out, both of them too tired and fucked out to manage another round of sex, but unable to stop touching each other either. When they settled back down again, Lex feeling more relaxed, warm with the knowledge that they could just stay curled up together all night. "What did happen to the cows?" he asked.
He could feel Clark's smile against his skin. "They chased a haystack off a cliff. My Dad's going to be upset when he finds out."
Lex pictured that for a moment. "Haystacks aren't really known for their speedy getaways," he fished.
"No," agreed Clark in a tone that Lex recognised as 'don't ask me anything more, I'll have to lie.' He had to work hard to suppress the frustration at being shut out by Clark again, of still being kept in the dark even after everything they were to each other.
"And Chloe got home okay," he said instead, letting it go. It grew harder to do that every time this happened, and he wondered what would happen the day it was too hard for him not to keep asking. I'll push too hard and lose him, Lex thought, desolately. Nothing was worth that, not even satisfying his burning need to know. He just had to keep reminding himself of that.
"Yeah," said Clark, relief tinging his voice that Lex hadn't pushed. "She's probably already dreaming of the Pulitzer she'll get for her daring exposé on why cattle shouldn't be allowed to graze in fields strewn with meteorite rocks." He cuddled slightly closer. "Oh, and she said to tell you that if you want to gain the trust of the town you probably shouldn't get caught creeping around in the middle of the night spying on people having sex in haystacks."
Lex let out a snort of laughter. "I'll bear that in mind," he said. Maybe buying produce for the orphans was the way to go. He could get Chloe to publicise it - give her an exclusive in exchange for her silence on the creeping-around-a-hayfield-with-a-minor-in-the-middle-of-the-night thing. Except, she'd probably want more than that. Maybe he should...
Clark laughed quietly to himself, leaned up and kissed Lex's forehead. "You're thinking again," he said. "I love that." There was a tiny, almost unnoticeable pause, then he added, in a more serious voice, "I love you."
Lex found himself lost for words for the first time in years, his mind wiped blank by the enormity of that. Clark started to tense up and Lex realised his lack of response was probably worrying him. He grabbed at Clark with the arm that wasn't already curled around him, and pulled him close. Clark went with it, but Lex could feel tension thrumming through his muscles.
"Clark..." he said, and then hated himself for the shocked, breathy tone of it. He was a Luthor, damnit, he was meant to have control of every situation. "I love you, too," he managed to get out past the lump in his throat.
"Oh," Clark said, very quietly, and then relaxed completely against Lex's body, pressing a kiss against his neck.
Lex held him tighter and concentrated on breathing through the unfamiliar sensation of getting something he wanted more than anything, and not finding it rotten at the core. There's still time, said the cynical voice in the back of his head that always sounded too much like his father. He ignored it.
They lay in silence together, and Lex found himself falling asleep, nodding off easily with Clark's heat wrapped in his arms. Clark's mind was apparently still working, though, and just as Lex was letting his eyes fall shut, he said in a rush, "I carried the haystack."
Lex blinked himself back awake. "What?" he managed.
"I'm," Clark hesitated, then said firmly, "I'm an alien."
"What?" repeated Lex numbly, wondering if he'd fallen asleep after all.
Clark sat up abruptly. "You deserve to know everything - I can't keep hiding this from you, pretending I don't see the hurt in your eyes every time I have to avoid a question." He looked at Lex with eyes dark with desperation. "I'm an alien," he said again. "I came down in a ship, with the meteors, when I was a baby. I can do...stuff."
Lex's mind was racing. "Alien," he repeated, numbly. When he'd pictured this moment; Clark finally opening up to him like Lex had been hoping for months that he would, he'd been expecting 'I'm a meteor mutant.' He'd already thought about his response, how he'd reassure Clark that it didn't matter what the meteors had done to him, he was still Clark and that was all Lex cared about. In none of the scenarios that he'd envisaged had 'alien' come into it.
"Are you sure?" he heard himself ask, stupidly.
Clark gave a bitter half-laugh and looked away. "Yeah," he said. "There's...we have my ship."
Ship, thought Lex, his thoughts becoming tinged with hysteria. My lover has a spaceship.
Clark suddenly pulled away completely, swinging his legs off the bed. "I know this is a bit of a shock," he said. "I should...I'll go home, so you can think about it."
Lex managed to pull himself together enough to actually look at Clark's face, and see how he'd completely closed himself off. "No," he said, sitting up to grab at Clark's shoulder and keep him there. "Don't go."
Clark paused and looked back at him, his face still blank. Lex looked past it, into Clark's eyes, and saw the misery there, as if Clark already knew that this was going to end badly.
"Don't go," said Lex again, quieter, and Clark's face relaxed slightly, hope creeping in. Lex couldn't stop himself studying Clark's eyes for something alien, for something different about them in light of this new knowledge. After all, eyes were meant to be the windows to the soul, but it was just Clark, with the same wide, green eyes that Lex had been gazing into since he'd woken up on a riverbank. It's still Clark, he thought. Maybe he could use the response he'd planned after all.
"I hit you with my car," he said instead, his mouth bypassing his brain for once. Clark nodded hesitantly. "And you can move really fast." Clark nodded again, his eyes fixed on Lex's face. "And your eyesight..." Lex trailed off, leaving a pause for Clark to fill.
Clark cleared his throat, but his voice was still hoarse when he said, "It's...I can see through things."
Lex nodded. "Okay," he said. He found himself pulling on Clark's shoulder, trying to get him to move closer again. Clark resisted for a moment, then shifted so that he was sitting next to Lex, facing him.
"I'm strong," added Clark, still speaking in a hushed tone. "Really strong. And I can...shoot fire out of my eyes."
Lex choked a bit at that and Clark tensed again. "Okay," said Lex again, trying to sound reassuring. He hesitated for a moment in case there was more, but Clark stayed silent, and Lex knew he was going to have to come up with a proper response.
"Clark..." he started, and he felt Clark twitch slightly beneath his hand. Without even thinking about it, he leant forward and kissed him, trying to reassure him. Clark let out a tiny exhale of breath, and his whole body relaxed, leaning forward into Lex's. "I love you," said Lex, the words still feeling strange on his tongue, but the truth of it resounding within him like a bell. "Thank you for trusting me with this."
"I had to," said Clark, his forehead resting against Lex's. "I'm so sick of lying to everyone, Lex. Hiding my abilities from everyone except my parents, hiding how I feel about you... I want to have one person who I can tell everything to."
"You can tell me anything," said Lex, quietly. "I'll never use it against you, I promise."
That earned him a full-on Clark-smile, bright enough to light up the whole room. "I know."
"Good," said Lex. He lay back down, settling back against the pillows and spreading his arms out in an invitation that Clark immediately took him up on, cuddling close and gently nuzzling Lex's ear. "I've got a conference call at 8.30, and I really should get some sleep before then," Lex said, wishing he could keep Clark awake all night, exploring his body all over again in light of this new knowledge, looking for all the ways he was different to a human, all the ways he was the same. His father was going to be on the call though, and if he thought Lex was distracted, he might investigate why. Clark's announcement had sent Lex's mind reeling, and he was finding it hard to rely on anything right now, but he knew for certain that he had to protect Clark from his father, at all costs.
"Okay," said Clark, then hesitated. "And we're...we're still okay?"
"Of course," Lex reassured him immediately. This might have thrown him, but he was as sure now as he had been ten minutes ago that letting Clark go was never going to be an option. A thought occurred to him, and he chuckled quietly. "And you were worried we were having boring sex. I think inter-species sex counts as kinky."
Clark chuckled quietly against Lex's ear, and Lex smiled to himself as he shut his eyes, safe in the arms of his alien lover. Alien lover? My life really is a bad sci-fi porno.

The way you handled Lex's need to know *everything* was perfect, and also Clark being torn between wanting to tell and afraid to. I really enjoyed this story--it had a lovely first season feel to it, and I've been missing that!

But, since there was no actual haystack!sex does that mean you're going to write another? *grins*

Date: 2008-03-11 04:48 pm (UTC)And, to be honest, I spent lot of time thinking about haystack sex while I was planing this (well, I had to picture them in every single position, right? For the purpose of making sure I wasn't missing something...) and I realised it would probably be incredibly uncomfortable. Hay's kinda pointy, after all.
So, I think this is going to be it in this 'verse.

Well, that's okay if there is not more of this 'verse. I'll keep my eye out for others.

OMG, I had this really sudden and vivid picture of a random haystack zooming in front of the cows, and then Lex said what I was thinking, and I laughed in delight. Clark must have known Lex was going to pick up on that. I mean, the town IDIOT would have spotted that. Oh Clark...he's just adorable.
This had a lovely combination of funny and sweet, I loved it.

I don't remember this power being mentioned in the comic books. I hate that they leave out the good parts because of the damn Comics Code.
and then hurried back to his car before any more farm animals could attack him.
I have to admire your restraint for not making a group of chickens attack him right there.
The orphans would just have to get their own damned produce.
That's sad, but as sad as the idea that all the visitors would prevent Clark and Lex from fucking.
Dad said that I shouldn't let anything get in the way of helping cows. He was pretty insistent."
Aww, the end was cute.

Date: 2008-07-11 11:03 am (UTC)Funny you should mention chickens - I've half had a plan to write another one in this 'verse, with something to do with chickens, just so I can call it the Farmyard Animal Series, and put everyone off reading it for fear of bestiality...
I'm really glad you liked it, thanks for the lovely comment!

Date: 2008-12-17 09:02 pm (UTC)Oh, yeah, Clex can be so awesome - I've been working through a rec list for a while now, and okay, some of the stories are pretty bad, but others are just perfect.
I'm glad you liked this one.
