They were shopping when it happened. Coming out of Ottakar's, Lucy's head twitched and she stared off towards Havant.
"There's a fire," she said. "It feels like it's around five miles away. It's getting bigger."
Rachel looked around the busy shopping street. She grabbed Lucy's arm and tugged her round the corner. "If we find somewhere with no one to see us, I can take you." They ran into an alley at the back of the Cascades.
"Here," said Lucy, pushing her bags on to Dave. "Look after these."
He sighed a long suffering sigh and took them and Rachel's. Lucy and Rachel touched their amulets and put their glamours on, then Rachel grabbed Lucy's hand and they rose suddenly in to the air. Dave watched them go.

They arrived near the centre of Havant about 20 minutes later, and Rachel didn't need Lucy's directions to work out where the fire was. A huge pillar of smoke rose from a small, terraced house. Three fire engines were drawn up outside it, and a small crowd of people, many of whom looked as if they'd just come out of their houses, were watching. They landed behind the crowd, whose attention was fixed on the excitement of the fire and failed to notice their arrival.
Lucy and Rachel walked through the crowd of people, who gave them funny looks and stepped back a bit. Dressed, as they were, in strange superhero costumes, and with Rachel's hair waving gently as if in a breeze that did not exist, they stood out.
However, before they were close enough to the fire for Lucy to use her powers, they were stopped by a young fireman.
"I'm sorry, could you stay back please?"
"I can help," said Lucy, "Let me through."
The fireman looked her up and down and switched in to humouring mode. "It's ok, we've got it handled. You just stay back and let us work."
"No," said Lucy, "You don't understand, I can put the fire out. I can put it out now." She tried to push past him, but he was much taller and stranger than her, and prevented it easily. The commotion caused on of his colleagues to come over and the crowd to turn their attention from the fire to them. Rachel tried to ignore the stares at her tight costume, glad it wasn't her actual body that they were seeing in it.
"Lady, please could you just step back and let us do our job?"
Lucy exhaled an exasperated breath. "Look!" she said and held up her arm. She glared at it briefly and it burst in to a sudden, hot flame. The firemen jumped back in surprise.
"Jesus Christ!"
"Indeed," said Lucy, "and this is why you should let me past." She waved her hand over her burning arm and the flames disappeared. Her arm and costume were unharmed.
The firemen just stared at it in disbelief, and she pushed past them. She strode past the fire engines and the other firemen, who were training hoses on the blaze, and had missed her display.
"What are you doing?" shouted one. "Get out of here!"
Lucy ignored him and walked straight in to the burning house.
"Holy fuck!" said the Officer-In-Charge, flabbergasted. Before he could react in a more practical manner, the flames began to die down. Within seconds, they were completely gone, and the smoke plume began to dissipate.
"How the fuck did she do that?" said one of the firemen next to Rachel in disbelief. Before she could think of a reply that didn't involve interdimensional wormholes, Lucy walked out of the house again.
"There's a man in the back bedroom upstairs. He doesn't look so great. You can send some people in now - it's perfectly safe."
The Officer-In-Charge gaped at her, then sprang in to action, directing some of his men to go in with breathing apparatus.
Lucy walked back over to Rachel.
"I think we're done here. Let's get back." Rachel nodded and took her hand.
"Wait!" said the fireman, "Who are you? Where did you come from? How did you do that?"
Lucy paused and looked at Rachel.
"Her name is Blaze, and I'm Gravita," said Rachel. "I'm sure we'll see you around - this is only the beginning." With that, she pulled Lucy up in to the air and back towards Southsea. Gasps could be heard below.
